This is really a post to figure out what I need to watch for, and gather any advice for a possible one-way trip south to a new home.Some information:. The boat is apparently sound, well-rigged, and has a good sail inventory. If I were to undertake this, I would likely cast about for a more experienced sailor to help crew. The trip would be from the Suisun municipal marina to the Central Coast (Potentially as far south as Oxnard).

Very possible during the right times of year.Be very careful to round point conception in fair weather and ideally a fair bit offshore if uncertain. Weather and swells can get bad there.Have a VHF and backup VHF. Have good safety gear. It is possible to do it in just a few overnights but I would watch the cape I mentioned carefully.Make a list of possible places to duck in.

Half Moon Bay, Morro Bay and Avila are obvious. Know navigation and how to read the lights at night as a couple of those are tricky. Yeah, the tentative plan was to take a week or so:. Day 1: Suisun-public harbor in SF or peninsula (to leave from the southern half of the gate, thus avoiding the potato patch). Day 2-3: SF-Monterey. May Will have to travel overnight; not sure.
