Taskbar stays visible while in full-screen mode 1) Right click on the Taskbar, and uncheck Lock the taskbar. 2) Click-and-drag the Taskbar over to the left side of the screen, and let go of the mouse click, to set the Taskbar over there. 3) Again, now click-and-drag the Taskbar from the left part. Fullscreen uses WSPOPUP when creating the window which should cause Windows to hide the taskbar (but this seems to be buggy in Windows 10). Hopefully Microsoft will release an update for Windows 10 that will address this issue, in the meantime, the workaround you mentioned (of changing the location of the taskbar) is one way to correct this.

Hide Taskbar In Fullscreen Mode
Both options kinda workbut its not fixing the problem itself and it will occur frequently ive noticed.2nd option is the best, i dont wanna be switching the autohide option multiple times a day, and the restart of explorer is otherwise good but it looses track of some programs ur running in system bar. Like nvidia, few monitoring tools etc.the fix is kinda like my car only runs full speed and wont slow down even when breaking, shot down your car using keys ingnition and restart, do this allways when this happensits not a fix, its not solved, temporary “workaround” at best though its generally been accepted option for over 2 years it seems, even by microsoft great work MS, lazy as allways.

I have been facing an issue where the taskbar is still visible when launching a full screen application, such as game, a video player or even some applications like Remote Desktop Connection. The only way to solve this is restarting Windows Explorer process through Task Manager, which becomes extremely annoying after a while as this happens very often. IIRC, this has been happening since Fall Creator's Update, and after laptop wakes up from hibernation. My other laptop and desktop, also running same version of Windows 10, do not suffer from this issue, even when turned on after hibernation. I have recently refreshed Windows 10 in this laptop, in order to attempt to solve another unrelated issue, but the taskbar not auto-hiding issue persists.
